Dr. Daphrose Gahakwa, Conflict resolution committee

Dr. Daphrose Mukankubito Gahakwa is genetic engineer by profession. She graduated with BSc in agriculture in 1979 from Makerere University. She served as an agricultural officer and a senior seed inspector in the Ministry of Agriculture Uganda. She earned a MSc in plant breeding for agricultural development in 1996 and PhD in genetic engineering in 2001 both from the University of East Anglia in UK. She served as a Director General of Rwanda Agricultural Research Institute, Deputy Director General of Rwanda Agriculture Board and, Minister of State for Agriculture, Minister of Education/Chancellor of the National University of Rwanda. She also served as a chair person for Rwanda High education council for 6 years. She has published over 34 papers on various aspects of plant breeding and genetics with emphasis on agricultural development in Rwanda, and continues to be involved in this research area.
